Concerto Competition Final

Following a highly competitive round of preliminary auditions, we are pleased to announce the six finalists for the 2026 Barker College Concerto Competition. The overall standard was exceptionally high, with students demonstrating impressive preparation, musicality, and artistic commitment.

Finalists:

Alicia (Year 12, Cello) – Tchaikovsky: Rococo Variations 

Veronica (Year 10, Flute) – Nielsen: Flute Concerto

Emma (Year 9, Saxophone) – Glazunov: Alto Saxophone Concerto

Lanxin (Year 8, Cello) – Elgar: Cello Concerto

Isabel (Year 10, Marimba) – Legend of the White Snake

Emily (Year 10, Harp) – Reinecke: Harp Concerto

The Concerto Competition Final will take place on Monday 9 March, 7pm–9:00pm in the Recital Hall, where each finalist will perform their work with piano accompaniment before a live audience and guest adjudicator.

The winning performer will have the opportunity to appear as soloist with one of Barker’s premier ensembles — Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, or Wind Symphony — in a special concert later this year.
