About this event
Indigenous Australians have been making observations, drawing conclusions, and desseminating their knowledge for 65,000 years - long before the Scientific Method was formally established. To better understand Indigenous cultural knowledge and its relationship to modern Science, Barker College Science Deparment and the Barker Institute has invited a knowledgeable and engaging speaker, Corey Tutt OAM, to share with the Barker Community.
Corey Tutt OAM is a Kamilaroi man from Nowra on the New South Wales south coast. Many will know Corey as the founder of DeadlyScience, a not-for-profit organisation that aims to provide science books and telescopes to remote schools in Australia, and connects young Indigenous people with mentors to encourage their participation in STEM subjects. Corey is also a highly successful author publishing bestselling and multi award winning book The First Scientists and also his latest book, This Book Thinks Ya Deadly which celebrates over 70 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
