Year 11
2 units for each of Preliminary and HSC
Course Description
Students investigate the health status of Australians and the interrelated factors that affect the health of individuals and communities. Students explore the factors that influence movement and performance and develop the skills to enhance movement for themselves and others throughout their lifetime. Students explore and think critically about the interrelationships between anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, psychology, sociology, nutrition, skill acquisition, injury prevention, and rehabilitation.
The Year 11 course comprises two focus areas: Health for individuals and communities; and The body and mind in motion. During the course, students will have the opportunity to engage in a Collaborative Investigation, where they will work collaboratively to investigate an agreed topic that reflects an area of interest. Depth studies will also be undertaken to explore content on a deeper level and apply health and movement concepts to various contexts. Where appropriate, case studies, practical application, and research skills are to be integrated throughout student learning. READ MORE.
The Year 12 course is organised into two focus areas: Health in an Australian and global context; and Training for improved performance. Similarly to Year 11, students undertake depth studies throughout the course, with an emphasis on developing skills of collaboration, analysis, communication, creative thinking, problem-solving, and research.
